Miti Alliance Tree Museums

Miti Tree Museum

“Protecting Biodiversity”

At Miti Alliance, we are deeply committed to preserving biodiversity and protecting Kenya’s rare and indigenous tree species.

In 2020, we established our first tree musuem in Naro Moru, Mt. Kenya Region, dedicated to planting rare and indigenous species and building a seed bank. Seeds are a lifeline – they hold the key to climate resilience and the continuity of our natural heritage.

Building on this vision, we are now setting up Tree Museums in different parts of Kenya in collaboration with like-minded partners. These living museums are learning sanctuaries designed to help people discover, appreciate and fall in love with trees – inspiring a culture of conservation and stewardship.

Beyond preservation we are working on training in our research center, offering education on the medicinal, ecological and cultural significance of trees.

Through this initiative, we aim to protect local species, preserve seeds for future generations and restore the deep connection between people and nature.

Miti Retreat

Set inside the Miti Tree Museum at the foot of Mt. Kenya, the Miti Retreat is a cozy, solar-powered earthen cottage designed for quiet retreating. With a comfy ensuite bedroom, fast Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace, it’s ideal for couples, solo travelers and long stays seeking calm and quiet in nature.

Guests can enjoy guided walks through the Tree Museum, forest bathing in the Miyawaki forest, fresh vegetables from the gardens and peaceful evenings on the verandah or by the fire pit.

Just 20 minutes from Nanyuki and close to Ol Pejeta and Mt. Kenya National Park, the retreat is a tranquil base for rest, reflection and adventure – all in the heart of the miti tree museum.
