Miti Kitchen Gardens
“Growing Food, Nurturing Communities”
Miti Kitchen Gardens empower schools and communities to grow their own nutritious food sustainably, providing a reliable source of vegetables, fruits and grains.
Many schools can no longer sustain feeding programs, which are a critical incentive for students to attend school. By establishing kitchen gardens, schools can supplement meals with fresh produce, ensuring children stay nourished and engaged in learning while reducing dropout rates.
Beyond feeding programs, these gardens teach students and communities practical skills in regenerative agriculture, environmental stewardship and healthy eating, creating long-term self-sufficiency.
They also link with other Miti Alliance initiatives – including Miyawaki forests, Tree Museums and school programs – fostering a holistic ecosystem of learning, conservation and community empowerment.
Key Benefits:
- For Students: Improved nutrition supports concentration, attendance and academic performance.
- For Schools: Gardens supplement school meals, reduce food costs and strengthen sustainability.
- For Communities: Cultivates skills, self-reliance, and environmental awareness.
Miti Kitchen Gardens are more than gardens – they are living classrooms, sources of nourishment and catalysts for change, planting the seeds for healthier, more resilient communities.
