Miti School Programme

Shaping mindsets, one classroom at a time.

We partner with public and community schools across Kenya to give children hands-on environmental education — and the trees, tools and training to put it into practice.

Real environmental change starts young. The Miti Schools Programme brings 40-minute lessons and field expeditions into partner schools, covering conservation, biodiversity and climate change in a way children can see and touch — not just read about.

Every partner school gets support to plant fruit and indigenous trees, set up a tree nursery, and establish a kitchen garden and orchard, backed by teacher training and a full year of monthly follow-up visits from our field team.

Since we began, the programme has trained teachers, launched environmental clubs, and put trees in the ground with the help of the very children who will watch them grow up.

We work with county education authorities and school administrators to identify partner schools, and with corporate and institutional partners — including I&M Foundation, National Bank, Prime Bank, Equity Bank, Bank of Africa, Citi Bank and the Kenya Forest Service — to fund and deliver each school’s programme.
